The Missouri Physical Therapy Association (MPTA) was founded in 1949 as a Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and represents physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students of physical therapy statewide in Missouri. The MPTA promotes excellence in the practice of physical therapy, responding to the unique needs of the public, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students.
Our mission is to advance and promote the profession of physical therapy, supporting its members in order to improve and advocate for the physical health and functional abilities of the individuals and communities they serve.
PT Compact Legislation Signed Into Law
We are pleased to inform you that the Physical Therapy Licensure Compact (PTLC) was signed into law by Governor Nixon on July 6th in HB 1816. The PTLC has now been signed into law in 4 states: Arizona, Missouri, Oregon, and Tennessee. The PTLC will go into effect when 10 states join. Many thanks to everyone who came to Jefferson City to testify on this legislation, to our membership for the engagement in this effort, and a big thank you to Representative Charlie Davis (R - Webb City) who was a champion for the MPTA this year and vital in the passage of the PT Compact language. Thank you Rep. Davis!!
